The Perrys are the 39th family to live in the Mansion. Rick Perry is the 40th governor to live in the Mansion, and the 47th governor of Texas. Although several governors served more than one term, only the Ferguson family occupied the house at three different times. Marshall Pease, Miriam Ferguson and Bill Clements each served two non-consecutive terms.

* On Murrah's departure, Lt. Gov. Fletcher S. Stockdale (acting governor May-June 1865) performed some duties of the governor's office and is sometimes listed as governor, although Hamilton's appointment was for immediate succession. There is no evidence that Stockdale occupied the Mansion.
