Welcome to the official web site of Friends of the Governorís Mansion. This non-profit corporation was organized in 1979 to support and enhance the Texas Governorís Mansion collections, gardens and education programs. The Mansion is a state and national landmark built in 1856. It is the fourth oldest continuously occupied governor's residence in the United States. The Governor's Mansion Restoration Project, necessary because of extensive damage by the June 2008 fire, completed construction on the building and grounds in 2012. During the summer of 2012, the collections and the First Family returned to the Mansion. Tour information is availble on our Visitor Information page. For more information, see www.texasgovernorsmansion.org. FGM is co-sponsoring an exciting symposium on the Greek Revival style Nov. 14-15 in Austin. †More information at http://www.nchmuseum.org/education/when-modern-meant-classical/.
